The Journey So Far

It All Started In 2020

I decided to pursue acting full time and by March I was signed up and ready to work background to get my SAG vouchers. I was already accepting extra work when the country shut down because of COVID. Crap. What now? This was the first time in years that I had a break and didn't know my next step. So I took that time to thoughtfully consider what I wanted for the next phase of my life. I started taking online acting classes, spent time with friends and family (lots of video chats), and learned personal finance so I could make residual income in the stock market. It was a breath of fresh air being involved in industries that I was actually intersested in and I consumed information voraciously. And just like that, 2020 was coming to an end.

In the last quarter of the year, after many discussions with the people I trusted most, I decided to pursue IT. I had already taken four Computer Science courses at local Community Colleges in the two years prior and knew I was ready to make the switch. After looking in different sectors, I decided to pursue cloud computing. I recieved my first certificate (AWS CCP) in January 2021 and have been studying ever since. Since then, I've been certified in AWS SAA, Google IT Support Professional, CompTIA A+, and CompTIA Network+. On top of that, I've been learning HTML, CSS, and Sass (creating the website you see here, hosted using cloud services in AWS) and even had time to secure the necessary vouchers to become SAG Eligible.

I'd by lying if I said it was easy. It's been extremely challenging, both mentally and physically, and it has required an iron will, strict discipline, and doggedness I didn't know I had in me. I've tried my best to adapt to new information and changing trends and I know that I'm on a track I'm proud of. I can't wait to see what the rest of 2021 (and beyond) holds for me. Things are looking up.
