Who I Am
Hey, I'm Garrett. I work in cloud finance — specifically, I help companies figure out where their cloud money is going and how to spend it better. It's a weird niche, but I genuinely enjoy it.
My background is all over the place in a way that somehow makes sense in hindsight. I've managed crews building pools, coached high school basketball, worked in logistics finance, and surveyed land. In 2020 I decided to pivot into tech — got five certifications in a year, taught myself to build websites, and landed a FinOps role at WellSky, where I've been ever since. The numbers are real ($3.6M+ in savings, $48M+ in budgets) but honestly the part I like most is just making complicated things easier to understand for the people who need to make decisions.
Outside of work I'm learning Spanish, still play basketball when I can, and have a SAG card from a chapter of my life I'm proud of and don't need to over-explain.
